| Gamemon USB Dual Shock Pad |
| Quality Gamepad at Affordable Price |
If you're like me and play the occasional emulator (for retro sake) or play 'shoot-em-ups' on your PC, read on!
It's hard to find quality products at affordable prices nowadays but the Gamemon USB Dual Shock Pad sure comes close.
Thumbs up:
1) It's USB for true Plug and Play.
2) Rubber coated so that it doesn't slip out of your hands in the heat of the moment. That has the side-benefit of make it really comfy to handle, giving a an almost suede-like feel to it.
3) It's modelled after the venerable Playstation controller, thus the "Dual Shock" feature. That also means ergonmics and ease-of-use are certainly there.
4) One word, *AFFORDABLE*.
Thumbs Down:
1) I'd prefer a more positive and 'springy' feedback from the buttons but hey, it's al'cheapo.
2) Native button programmability and the option of it doubling as a joystick would sure make it tops. However, most applications that support gamepads have in-built configurators so it's no big deal.
I'd like to also mention that it comes with a mini driver-CD even though the driver is only 1.3MB. They could have opted for the cheaper alternative of using a floppy but they stuck with the more consumer-oriented decision. I've done some Internet checks and it seems that Gamemon is an up-and-coming company that seems pretty reliable. Certainly a brand name to look out for.
All in, considering the good quality manufacturing, it's a really good buy. Think about it, and let me get back to my game of Herzog. Cheers! |
