| No One Lives Forever 2: A spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way |
| James Bond + Austin Power = Cate Archer |
Return to a world of action, espionage and dry humor inspired by the 60's spy craze in No One Lives Forever 2. You are secret agent Cate Archer, a beautiful but deadly secret agent on a top-secret mission. Armed with an arsenal of deadly weapons, spy gadgets, and devious traps, it's up to you to save the world from H.A.R.M.
Continued from the first NOLF, Agent Archer is still hot on the tail of H.A.R.M. This is one of the game that set a good example when coming out which a Part 2 installment, it actually has many noticable improvements over the last (which many other games failed to do so).
Not every mission is your typical kill-everyone and get over with it kind of game, you need to find certain clue and solve the puzzle as usual. One improvement I like about the game is the character building portion. You can increase your skills to your character. You can improve your weapon skill to shooting better, aim better with a scope, or improve your carrying skill to carry more ammo and dead bodies faster, or you can improve your search skill to take shorter time when searching bodies for useful items. The ability to search bodies for useful items could easily get you more armor or life, and saving you from critical moments. Also, if you stand in the shadow long enough, you can be hidden from anyone as long you don't make any sudden move.
You don't get to choose your gadgets and weapons before the mission, you will have to gather most of them in the field, but don't worry, plenty of them at your disposal. The standard 007-style gadgets can be found, like decoding kit (a makeup powder case instead of the 007-PDA), and camera shades (more practical than a 007-lighter).
The flow of the game and plot adds to the fun too, you get to fight some odd enemies (like female ninjas) in some odd places (like in a house being blown off into the core of a tornado). The letdown is that they never explain how Miss Archer get herself off the house in the tornado.
Overall, this is a great game to spend time playing. Don't be suprise to see it being made into a movie like Lara Croft's Tomb Raider. I think you already got a few candidates for the role of Cate Archer in your mind... |
