| "That’s my car! You……" |
“…”, that was my respond when I started installing the game. The drawing isn’t really impressed me, despite all the positive comments. I began to doubt about this game as I proceed to double click on the shortcut.
“Oh my god!” was my respond after setting up the configurations, click the “start game” button till when I gain control of the game. It’s just like I’m watching movie! The animation is very impressive, with the background “news” commentary.
Different genres as other game…
Grand Theft Auto 3, based on Liberty city, is neither a driving game nor a 3rd person shooting game. It’s rather, half of each.
Game isn’t easy, but isn’t hard too...
It seems pretty difficult to take control at first, but once you did the right thing for configurations and play for a while, you’ll be used to it. Of course, to know the “right” way through the city isn’t easy too. Most of the time you’ll find yourself getting “lost” in the city without take a look at your “radar”. For those of your used to drive around Singapore will find it difficult to get used to the USA traffic. I had some accident the first time I played, driving on the wrong lane.
Time to rock…
Once you’ve get used to everything, driving around city smoothly, time to get some jobs. Of course, first thing you’ll need to do is to change your clothes. How are you going to move around with your prison clothes? Once done, you’ll be working for some mafia, and so on.
Add some spice to your job…
Oh yea, does punching your way through a gunfight sound ridiculous for you? It certainly is. So you’ll need some good weapons to arm yourself for your jobs. Weapons range from baseball bat, pistol, UZI, AK 47, M16, Sniper-rifle, shotgun, grenade, Molotov cocktail, flamethrower and rocket launcher are to your disposal.
And a car…
You’ll spend most of your time in a car, driving around the city, so you’ll need a car. And how are you going to get a car? Steal it of course, either take the chance to throw someone out of his/her car or just steal an empty car. There are 34 normal vehicles, 7 emergency and 7 gang cars, especially the Rhino tank. Driving a tank around a city, rampaging cars is “that” fun.
And your boss…
You’ll work your way through the game by working for your bosses, and I mean bosses. There are 7 gangs in the game, 5 which you’ll be working for. However be careful. Offended a gang means you’ll be in real trouble if you were spotted in their territory.
Drive around!
There are 3 islands which make up Liberty city. They are Portland, Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale, which you first start in Portland.
Fly around!
You’ll be able to fly around the city when you arrive in Shoreside Vale in a Dodo plane. The control of the plane is extremely hard though. Don’t be surprise to find your plane falling straight for the ocean when you first fly this.
Low on health?
Around the cities, there are various “icons”. Mainly health, police, armor and rampaging icons. Health restores your health to 100, police will remove a police wanted level off, armor for 100 armor and rampaging involved in rampaging missions. And of course, there is another way of restoring your health from hookers…
Cash is king!
Earn your money by working for your boss, attacking a pedestrian or receiving secret package. Use your money for some nice weapon.
One of the best I’ve seen
This game is one of the best I’ve seen, and played. The way it animates the “movie”, the way the story goes, it really impressed me. Don’t be fooled by the drawing in the beginning, cause you’ll be surprise when you actually play the game. Try it! It’ll sure last you for a long time. |
