| Spider-Man The Movie |
| More web swinging actions from our neighbourhood hero. |
Those who have caught Spider-Man The Movie, and gave it a two-thumbs-up might want to consider taking part in the story again. This time, a little different from the big screen.
The main plot is somewhat the same as in the movie, you as Spider-Man, gets to realize your powers and abilities after the spider-bite. Defeat the villians, and save the girl next door. But this time, a little more depth in the making of the hero. In the process of using your superpowers against crimes, you will face some old-time villians like Shocker, Vulture and Scorpion. Not to forget the last but not least, the Green Goblin. You get to fight Green Goblin for like four to five times in the whole game, a little too many that some of you might get sick and tire of.
The engine is more and less the same as the older Spider-Man series. The interface is rather unfriendly to keyboard user, as I feel that the navigation is meant more for Consoles rather than PCs. Sometimes you will get headaches trying to see which way you should head for, or when trying to face your opponents.
Spider-Man will pick up martial art moves during the game, each useful for different situations. You have a list of more than 30 moves to choose from, but when the heat is too much, I don't have too much time to decide which moves to use. Web is the only other weapon than throwing stuffs you find on the ground. You can tie up villians with your web too.
What I really like about the game is the web swinging action and air combats, especially when you need to chase villians buildings after buildings. But these are also the places that will make your head spins and puke if you did not have enough good night sleep.
The game is mainly taking after the big hit of the movie. In putting more contents into the original plot of the movie, it also took away the fast flowing pace of the movie. In most part of the game, repeated combats and scenes are quite tiring. For Spider-Man fans, go for it, preferably using a joypad. Not keen on web swinger? You can skip this one. |
