| An industrial revolution in a world of magic. |
From the team that brought us the fantastic RPG games like Fallout and Fallout 2, now known as Troika. When I first heard of the game, I can't wait to get a look at Dawrf with machine guns or Elf with sniper rifle, or even a Mage with pistol. Cool huh? Not really when the game promises too much.
Let's start with the character states page, which I almost give up the whole game because of it! The character building scheme provides a thousand and one ways of shaping your character, and I actually get lost trying to navigate myself in the incredibly deep character screen.
The new engine is very similar to that of Fallout, only less buggy. The graphics has improved a lot, but the environments could have vary more to make full use of the engine. The turn-base combat system could be quite dull and boring for those are too used to that of Diablo 2 and Bauldar's Gate 2. Most of the time, other then bosses and quest related enemies, all you can find are wolves, bears and spiders. Wonder where did all the Orcs and Trolls disappear to?
Like in the Fallout series, the World is huge and the quests are plentiful. If only the game have Way Point system like Diablo 2 or some quick transport, I wouldn't have to spend so much on travelling. It's even a pain to find someone in the town, go door-to-door, for trading or quests. And every detail you uncovered from these NPCs takes you deeper into the mystery, rather than giving more lights on the plot itself.
Well, this review may not seems much, as there is really nothing to much to tell at all. If they ever come out with a sequel, more designing in maps, monsters and quest system would make the gameplay much more interesting and enjoying. |
